NIDWAN presented the Call to Action of Indigenous Women and Girls With Disabilities at COP27 drawing the attention of State parties, constituencies, stakeholders, CSOs and delegates.
The Call to Action presented 11-point demands and actions that should prioritize marginalized and vulnerable groups’ voices, issues and concerns in climate policies. The paper calls for meaningful participation of Indigenous people and women with disabilities in climate mitigation and adaptation policies, ensuring the pledge of 1.7 billion dollars for indigenous people, increasing access of grassroots organizations and local initiatives to climate funds, and acknowledgement of indigenous traditional knowledge and practices. The Call to Action was published both in English and Nepali language (with simple language and pictorials) and was widely disseminated at the COP27 venue.
